Danny’s Ride – The Web Site

March 27th, 2009

This web site is my gift to Danny and crew in hopes that it helps communicate his message far and wide.  Get checked for cancer early and don’t wait to get treated!

Danny and I reconnected last fall after more years than I want to admit.  I was one of his School of Music students way back in 1975-6.  (That’s me in the groovy maroon sport coat blowing the trombone). I heard that he was back in business in Charleston and called when I came for a visit.  He gave me a tour of the new location of the music school, on Montague Ave. above Fox Music.  Just being in the Leonards band room brought back a rush of terrific memories; the concerts, the trip to Florida, the recording sessions…

Danny began to tell his story as only he can, and I found myself wondering how I might partner with him on this next part of his journey.  (Something short of riding 3000 miles of course).  Danny gave so much to me as a teacher… music yes, but much more.  He inspired me to set audacious goals and make more of my life than just existing from day to day.  Designing this web site is my small part in helping him reach his goals.  I am endebted to Drew and Nikki for their collaboration.  I hope you like it.  I surely welcome any and all suggestions for improving it.

Hello Danny and your wonderful team. I am going to make certain that I get to see you when you bike through Dallas. I will keep track of your progress and be cheering you on. Even though I have a Plano address I live in Denton County, so it will be so close. Danny and I were in the Charleston County Youth Band at about the same time, and his father and those in the music school had the biggest impact on my life. I am so grateful. Danny, Patsy, and Mr. and Mrs Leonard are always in my heart.

Best Wishes and I will pray for good weather.

It’s so good of you to do this. I’m Danny’s sister, “Patsy”. I’ve always known he’s an awesome, incredible brother and he sure has proven it, over and over. I’ve given out the name of this website. Thanks again for caring. God bless you.

I love the website and assuming this site follows progress during the ride, it should generate a good following. Of course a bit of advertising for the site is required. Blues, Brew & Barbeque should be a venue to get the word out. If there is a program then the site should be prominently displayed.
A correction needs to be made. After clicking the Donate Today button the donation page indicates the event is June 6, 2010 and is 425 days away. If people notice that it’s over a year away they will be less inclined to donate now. Of course the actual date is June 6, 2009.
    Thanks for Your Website Gift
