Danny’s Ride Auction
We had a great auction last night. The buffet was delicious! – BBQ, baked beans, coleslaw and fresh rolls. The evening featured terrific music from Danny’s band – The Charlestonian’s and later in the evening from Ed “Porkchop” Myer. Christine DeCocker and her family from Accu Photo Lab were on hand taking pictures for the end of ride scrapbook. They have done an unbelievable job for Danny’s Ride. I really can’t say enough about them.
In attendance last night was John Kellenyi. John is on the Board of Representatives for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. What an interesting person! It was great to meet him in person after hearing his name come up so many times. He actually has a quote on one of the Starbucks cups. Now that’s pretty cool!
At the end of the night, Danny gave out awards to those who helped him during his battle with cancer, his previous bike trip across country and our current trip. Danny gave a real heartfelt speech that brought several people to tears. Every time Danny speaks, it is from the heart and tonight was no exception.
We will be leaving from the Earth Fare parking lot at 11:00 this
morning. Let the journey begin! I will be posting video clips this evening from the auction. Thank you to everyone who attended the auction. It was a great way to raise funds for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and send us off towards the west coast!

You guys rock! What a great cause and what a great accomplishment. I’ve
biked thousands of miles over many years to raise funds for various causes and biked most of our great country but you’re living my dream of a long cross-country ride so I’m right there with you vicariously, been following every day. On arduous rides, I found that on the tough days, such as the heat you’re facing today, that it’s not so much the body as the brain that falters. You can do it! “Uncle Boy” is plugging for you Drew and I’m here in DC pulling for you both! Ride on! –cuzzin ginny
