Rather than using today as a day of rest, Danny and I hit the road and cut tomorrow’s 70 miles in half. It was beautiful weather with the sun shinning and very little wind. It was a good thing we did because we climbed one hill after another. For a couple days off the bike, Danny did a terrific job battling the hills! It was great to have him back and we are thrilled he is feeling better.
We finished the lighter day and quickly found a hotel in town. This allowed us to relax all afternoon and prepare details for the final leg into Charleston.
My uncle, Don, lives in Atlanta and drove 3 hours to take us out to dinner tonight! It was great to relax and laugh with him. We learned that he checks the blog every day and was familiar with all of our adventures – even referring to me as “Neil Armstrong” at one point. We all enjoyed his company and stories. We only wish we could have convinced him to stay longer!
We will be hitting the pavement at 7:30 tomorrow on our way to Millen, Georgia. We may bike a couple miles further in order to cut down on the 48 miles we have on Wednesday. We will see how our tired bodies feel when we arrive in Millen. We appreciate all of the posts on Danny’s Wall, the furry of donations we have received and the growing Facebook support. We can’t wait to thank many of you in person in the coming days.
